Our research will focus on the field of natural product synthesis, with an emphasis on the development of catalytic asymmetric methods that facilitate the construction of complex molecules. In particular, we will draw inspiration for methods development from nature, focusing on strategic bond constructions that enzymes often promote, but are still unavailable enantioselectively using current methods. Areas of interest include the synthesis of alkaloid natural products, catalytic asymmetric methods for the synthesis of arylated indolines, and the development of catalysts for enantioselective electrophilic chlorination.
